It was not possible to mount objects on the ceiling of the exhibition hall. Since at that time I had been working almost exclusively with hanging sculptures, a “substitute ceiling” was necessary to show the works. This role was fulfilled by an oversized table whose underside functioned as an overarching bracket for more than 40 objects. Earlier, autonomous works were shown as well as those made specifically for the installation. Everything took place underneath the tabletop and around the table legs – on exception was an oval hole belonging to one of the trouser objects which provided a view of the real ceiling and addressed the table surface as a possible level of action.
